Looking for a Blue Glass, Green Frog, Super ICP or PrintGuard Alternative?

If you use Blue Glass, Green Frog / Super ICP or PrintGuard on a Heidelberg Speedmaster, now is a good time to review your transfer jacket options.

The glass-bead market is changing, and some printers may find that the product or supply route they have relied on for years is no longer as straightforward.

You could simply choose another glass-bead jacket.

Or you could use the opportunity to ask whether coated metal is the better long-term solution.

Glass bead works but it is a consumable

Products such as Blue Glass, Green Frog, Super ICP and PrintGuard can provide excellent anti-marking performance.

The trade-off is replacement frequency. In our experience, premium glass-bead transfer jackets commonly last around 12–24 months.

LMC Jackets use a precision coated metal construction designed to remain on the press for much longer. We typically work on 3–5 years of service life, with some jackets lasting considerably longer.

So although LMC Jackets cost more initially, one metal jacket may replace two or three glass-bead jackets over its working life.

Why not just buy Heidelberg original?

Heidelberg TransferJacket and TransferJacket Blue are excellent coated-metal products.

The issue is cost.

Depending on the application, LMC Jackets are commonly around 25–50% below standard Heidelberg list pricing, while offering the same fundamental advantages of a long-life, dimensionally stable metal jacket.

That is where we believe LMC Jackets offer the best value:

  • Glass bead offers the lowest upfront cost.

  • Heidelberg offers the OEM solution at OEM pricing.

  • LMC Jackets offer long-life coated metal without the full OEM premium.

If you're looking for a Blue Glass, Green Frog, Super ICP or PrintGuard alternative, don't just ask which glass-bead product replaces it.

Ask whether this is the right time to move to metal.

For Heidelberg Speedmaster printers looking for a Blue Glass, Green Frog, Super ICP or PrintGuard alternative, LMC Jackets are the coated-metal option for those prioritising longer service life and lower cost than OEM.
